I think i have mine narrowed down to one solid idea.  This is a lot more than i could say for myself two weeks ago.  I have a passion for music and there was no doubt in my mind i wanted to use my music as a major contributor for my capstone, but how?  The idea of doing an album is just way too over used and the same goes for a musc viideo. Besides, just recording, mixing and mastering an album would be rather boring and time consuming for presenting so i wanted something that would display make it easier for someone to listen to more than one of my songs without staring at the transport on a computer and becoming bored after the first track.  However, a music video is too short.. So i thought why not combine the two.  I am going to make a short film that is led by the music.  It will flow back and forth from diologue to music to tell a story. The story is my next step.  I want it to be a drama with a twist and some comedic relief.  This is going to be a story that means alot to my band mate derek and i because it is something we have both experienced and helped eachother through.  A lot of my inspiration comes from derek, my love for music and a little of being pushed to make a decision with my graduationdate rapidly approaching.  I look forward to starting my story in the very near future.

  1. It sounds like you have some good foresight and drive to get this done, and as long as you plan out what you want to do, you won't feel pressured (well, as much :) ) from graduation.

If you have a story for a video in mind already, it'll be easier. But if it's something that your adding, it could become an obstacle. But I think it sounds solid.

  2. As a fellow lover of music I can say from experience I hear where your coming from on the bored after the first track part. I think it's great you have come up with the idea of a short film using music. Try researching other music inspired films like Pink Floyd's the Wall, Led Zeppelin's The Song Remains the Same, or the Beatles Magical Mystery Tour to get ideas. I look forward to seeing this.

So, would this be more like a musical, or something like Once? I've never actually seen The Wall, so I can't ask about that. I don't even know if there's a difference there, but reading about it made me wonder. It sounds like you've got a pretty solid start though.

  4. I still like that idea quite a bit. I'm excited that we are going to be teaming up on the capstone. I think that this project should turn out to be something pretty special.
